Meet the Team – Harvey Shewing

Having joined our landscaping team last year, Harvey has quickly become an integral part of the Gadd Brothers team as a landscaper, a key role across some of our largest projects to date. From precision setting out to being part of a show garden build at this year’s RHS Chelsea, Harvey shares with us what he enjoys most about life in the landscaping industry. For Harvey, it’s the variety that makes the job so rewarding with no two projects ever the same, and every garden brings new opportunities to turn a design into reality.

What do you love about the landscaping industry?

I love that no job is ever the same and that there is always so many possibilities when it comes to designs and construction within the industry.

What has been your favourite project you’ve worked on so far and why?

I’d have to say being a part of the RHS Chelsea build this year was a massive goal of mine to achieve! Just being in and around the chaos of everything and being a part of such a great build was such a great experience.

What’s one thing that makes a good workday great?

A good day’s weather and a solid plan for the day ahead is always key to a good day on site.

One bit of kit you wouldn’t want to work without?

A piece of kit I wouldn’t want to work without would either be the laser level or something as simple as a tape measure. Being able to be so accurate in the things we construct is a massive part of what we do. Without these simple tools we wouldn’t be able to create the amazing gardens that we do

What’s one skill you’d love to learn on the job?

I’d love to learn more about the paving aspect of landscaping. Paving isn’t not always the biggest part of the garden but it’s always integral to the how the garden takes shape.

Besides landscaping, what are you most passionate about?

Apart from landscaping I’d say I’m most passionate about football. I’ve always loved playing and watching and it’s a great way to keep fit and healthy too. I’m also into the gym and have been for the last year or so.
